MuniCap, Inc. is a leading public finance consulting firm established in 1997 that specializes in developing and implementing creative approaches to funding public infrastructure, facilities, and services for economic development and urban redevelopment projects, usually involving public and private partnerships.

WHAT WE DO

MuniCap’s primary role is to assist developers and public agencies in developing, implementing and managing public financing plans to create successful public-private partnership development projects. MuniCap’s role is to facilitate tax increment and special tax bond financing through bond issuance—our “consulting services”—as well as to complete the corresponding compliance after bond issuance—our “administrative services.”

CURRENT POSITIONS
Public Finance – Bond Administrator
Maryland Office (Columbia Area) – 2 Positions
Pennsylvania Office (Greater Pittsburgh Area) – 1 Position

We are currently seeking candidates with experience in finance and analytics to join our team. In this role, you will interact closely with local government agencies and real estate developers as well as perform a significant amount of research.

Our ideal candidate will be able to apply logic and use analytics to various projects currently in process and on the horizon. They will help solve problems and generate ideas, scrutinize issues in calculating methods, completes tasks with little to no direction, and take a proactive and results oriented approach in the areas of public finance and real estate revenue research and analysis.

Public Finance – Bond Administrator responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of multiple large scale, catalytic real estate projects and associated clients
  • Preparation of compliance reports on real estate development projects
  • Preparation of annual financial budgets and corresponding reports
  • Preparation of summaries, and reports related to financial analyses
  • Valuation and reconciliation of trust accounts and statements
  • Monitor project development, communicate with client and interested parties
  • Evaluation of on-going project and development metrics
  • Respond to bond holder and other stakeholders’ inquiries
  • Review and interpretation of bond and legal documents
  • Maintain responsibility for completion and accuracy of work products

Controller

We are currently seeking candidates with a current CPA license, bachelor’s degree or a concentration in accounting and strong accounting experience to join our team. In this role, you will interact closely with upper management, local governments, real estate developers, and internal staff.

Daily activities will include efforts associated with the company-wide financials, internal controls, and financial management of the company, as well as oversight of office management.  Detailed activities will include:

  • Company related accounting efforts:
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports for upper management
  • Analysis of financial metrics for upper management
  • Preparation of managerial reports for department directors
  • Coordinate preparation of payroll and related audits and reporting
  • Oversight of monthly invoicing process for company
  • Management of accounts payables and banking operations
  • Oversight of accounts receivable, bank deposits, and reporting
  • Oversight of company bookkeeping and bank reconciliations
  • Oversight of office management, equipment, and lease agreements
  • Management of business operations including multi-state business registrations, business insurance policies, and related audits and reporting
  • Management of fixed asset inventory for tax reporting
  • Assist compliance team with industry specific audits
  • Coordinate employee performance reviews, new hire onboarding, benefit open enrollment and other HR related tasks, audits, and reporting
  • Management and oversight of staff related to such efforts
  • Public-financing accounting efforts:
  • Oversee reconciliation of trust accounts
  • Supervise monthly and semi-annual billing and reconciliation of receipts
  • Coordinate monitoring and reconciliation of project debt service payments

Requirements:

  • Financial leader with growth oriented and mission minded perspective
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Experience with QuickBooks required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Attention to detail, organization and time management
  • Strong communication skills
  • Recent graduates should have a GPA of 3.5 or higher

Bookkeeper and Assistant to Office Manager and HR Manager

We are currently seeking candidates to join our team with experience in bookkeeping, including billing and account receivables. An associate’s degree in accounting, bookkeeping, or related fields is preferred. This role may also have responsibilities assisting with office management, human resources, and training. In this role, you will interact closely with other office departments, local governments, real estate developers, and internal staff.

 

Daily activities will include assisting with:

  • Preparation of monthly invoicing
  • Accounts payable and receivable duties
  • Accounts receivables: reporting, deposits, and reconciliation
  • Miscellaneous general office management duties, as needed
  • Various HR and payroll functions
  • Assist company controller with miscellaneous accounting, reporting, business operations, and compliance tasks

Requirements:

  • Experience with billing and bookkeeping
  • Preferably an associate’s degree in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks
  • Attention to detail, organization and time management
  • Strong communication skills • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work cohesively as a team player across many departments and offices
